The New York Times posted this fall harvest butternut squash pie in the recipe section recently. I thought that it sounded intriguing and boy, is it amazing! It does take some effort to pull together so I did it in stages over the course of a day. But I followed the recipe thoroughly and wasContinue reading “Butternut Squash Savory Pie”

CSA Pie
My fall CSA at Nourse Farm has the option of using my points toward baked goods so I’ve been buying a pie a week. Their pecan pie is exceptional with the interior having a caramel taste. I also decided to splurge on a chocolate raspberry pie. The raspberry filling is made on the farm.
Kate McDermott Demo
Tonight, Kate McDermott gave a virtual demo tonight through the North Olympic Library System for a one cup dough to ultimately demonstrate a lattice top pie. I was lucky enough to get the invitation and then was lucky enough to get into the demo.
My Rushed Buckwheat Galette
Someone once told me that pie cannot be rushed. You need to stop to pay attention to each level of production, and it is amazing when you are done. But I rushed this galette. It has apple, pear, blueberry, and mulberries in the filling. During baking, the wall slumped because I didn’t chill it enough.Continue reading “My Rushed Buckwheat Galette”
Antique Pie Pans
I bought a bunch of Table Talk antique tins from a vendor as I seem to have a collection starting. Unfortunately these have a lot of rust on them that I cannot easily get off. Does anyone have an idea of how to remove rust off of metal pans? My mom suggested that I tryContinue reading “Antique Pie Pans”
My birthday!
Every now and then I absolutely break down and I have pie for my birthday, except this year. I went to our local bakery and found this absolute beauty. I can safely say that I will let myself eat cake tonight!
Pie Bird

Chicken Pot Pie
I bought this chicken pot pie at Harvey’s Farm, one of my favorite farm stands. I thought it would be a great quick dinner and so I tried it tonight. My kids couldn’t say enough good things about it, though they did tell me that mine is much better. Of course they would say that!
Peach Buckle
I have a ton of peaches that we harvested from a local farm so I decided to make some peach buckle this morning. Are use my traditional Buckle recipe and then put peaches on the top. I broiled just a few minutes to caramelize the topping.
Grad School Quiche
Today I stopped by a grocery chain that I used to shop in graduate school. In the case! There it was! My favorite spinach quiche that I bought in those past days. I needed to get one to share with my family. Again, they felt that it isn’t as good as mine but still tasty.
