What could be more wonderful than a restaurant called pie town. I went to Pie Town over the weekend and celebrated everything that is about pie. They have pizza pies, savory pies, and sweet pies. We did a combination of all of them. Since I started this blog post, the restaurant renamed itself to CafeContinue reading “Pie Town to Cafe on the Common”

Oh, Ah – Summer
I stopped to get my CSA at my local farm stand. I’m excited for my weekend plans starting with this beauty! I will also be posting some of my own baking recipes soon!
Yummy Mummy
There is another bakery in my town that specializes in sweets. I tend to go to Swanski’s as I like buying bread. Today I needed some treats for my friend’s son as he is home with COVID. Who wouldn’t feel better with some sweet treats from Yummy Mummy Bakery. I bought the most beautiful cookiesContinue reading “Yummy Mummy”
Standard Baking and Local Haunts
For a quick getaway, we spent a few days in Portland, Maine. One of the highlights was Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. Every view was breathtaking but this is my favorite one from the hike. Of course, I needed to go to Standard Baking Company, one of my favorite bakeries. While we brought homeContinue reading “Standard Baking and Local Haunts”
Ceres Bakery
We stopped by an amazing bakery today in Portsmouth, NH. Ceres Bakery came up in my google search for an amazing local bakery. It was just a few steps from the square in downtown Portsmouth on Penhallow Street. They’ve been around for 40 years so they must be good! We ordered cookies, croissants, salads, andContinue reading “Ceres Bakery”
Local Foods
I’m a big advocate for shopping at local food stores. This year on Good Friday I decided to try some of the local food shops in Worcester instead of spending the day baking. Our first stop was Helen’s bakery. It is a wonderful Italian bakery that makes you feel like you went to your grandmothersContinue reading “Local Foods”
Swanski’s PI Pie
I blog a lot about my favorite local bakery! This morning they posted photos of their PI day mixed berry pie. Of course, I’m a sucker for pie and need very little reason to not indulge. This weekend I’m planning to make a pumpkin pie for PI day as well as some tiny empandas (handContinue reading “Swanski’s PI Pie”
King Arthur Flour
We’re spending a bit of February break in Vermont visiting the Quechee area. No Upper Valley visit can happen without a stop at King Arthur Flour. It has been years since a visit and we were thrilled to hang out at this destination. While I was waiting excitedly for our lunch, I decided to indulgeContinue reading “King Arthur Flour”
Sunday Nite Bites
My local bakery, Swanski’s, started offering Sunday Nite Bites as an opportunity to give their fans like me an additional day of goodies. I bought a tray of rolls and a seeded wheat loaf. I can’t wait to show off the special treat that I’ll get next week. After an afternoon of snowshoeing, it wasContinue reading “Sunday Nite Bites”
CSA Pie
My fall CSA at Nourse Farm has the option of using my points toward baked goods so I’ve been buying a pie a week. Their pecan pie is exceptional with the interior having a caramel taste. I also decided to splurge on a chocolate raspberry pie. The raspberry filling is made on the farm.
