The March challenge in my pie baking group is hand pies. This was a recipe that I made up as I went along. I tried making hand pies in February without great success. I wanted to try it again without doing a lot of prep work. This version contains chopped up ham and cheese withContinue reading “Ham and Cheese Hand Pies”

Irish Apple Tart
Kate McDermott is offering her Irish Apple tart class through the 92Y tonight. I can hardly wait. When I publish this post I will have already completed the class.
Blueberry Cobbler
I made a morning breakfast cobbler using blueberries and a quickly made Cobbler topping. You certainly could make this using canned pie filling, which I’ve done in a pinch. This is one of my son’s absolute favorites. Ingredient3 c. blueberries3 T. sugar⅓ c. orange juice⅔ c. flour¼ t. baking powderpinch of salt½ c. butter, softened½Continue reading “Blueberry Cobbler”
PI Day Pie
Happy PI Day! A maze of numbers decorates my PI Day Pie. This year I made a cherry pie, which reminds me of the cherry turnovers of my childhood. Enjoy pie today!
Irish Soda Bread
I did an online class today through Craft at Chatham to make Irish Soda Bread. The class gave us two versions so I made both. One is a brown soda bread and the other is sweeter with currents and orange juice. Yum! This was the perfect side for our holiday corned beef and cabbage.
Swanski’s PI Pie
I blog a lot about my favorite local bakery! This morning they posted photos of their PI day mixed berry pie. Of course, I’m a sucker for pie and need very little reason to not indulge. This weekend I’m planning to make a pumpkin pie for PI day as well as some tiny empandas (handContinue reading “Swanski’s PI Pie”
Ski Championship Pie
Ski championships happened this past weekend from my daughter. There was a huge potluck amongst all of the teams. I made two pies with a Pear and Raspberry filling. I decorated the top with snowflakes on top and the word “ski”! I used Ken Haedrich’s Recipe for both the filling and the crust from hisContinue reading “Ski Championship Pie”
Le Creuset Pie Plate
I bought an incredible Le Creuset pie plate at the thrift shop today. Incredible buy for $5 considering that it was never used. This will be perfect for a PI Day pie.
Buy Nothing Pie Shields
Today I scored from my local buy nothing group. I love free stuff!! My town group is particularly strong and often gives away pie items. These silicone pie shields have been highly recommended from my pie blogs. I have larger 9” circular pie ring but often it fits awkwardly on the crust. I hope toContinue reading “Buy Nothing Pie Shields”
King Arthur Flour
We’re spending a bit of February break in Vermont visiting the Quechee area. No Upper Valley visit can happen without a stop at King Arthur Flour. It has been years since a visit and we were thrilled to hang out at this destination. While I was waiting excitedly for our lunch, I decided to indulgeContinue reading “King Arthur Flour”
