For a quick getaway, we spent a few days in Portland, Maine. One of the highlights was Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth. Every view was breathtaking but this is my favorite one from the hike.

Of course, I needed to go to Standard Baking Company, one of my favorite bakeries. While we brought home several loaves of bread, the highlight of the visit was the pear tart. Oh, and the cookbook that I purchased. I can’t wait to try some of the pastry recipes.

LaRoux Kitchen is a must stop store for home cooks. I stopped by their locations in Portland and Portsmouth. They supply everything from cookbooks to high end appliances and foods. I could browse their unique dish selection for hours.
My final local stop was Fore Street, a farm to table restaurant above Standard Baking Company. Fore Street boosts a menu of locally sourced and hand crafted foods. I had a seafood sampler as well as scallops.

The Love Locks Wall remains in Portland as a homage to love. We loved walking around the Port area. We happened into a magnificent restaurant called Luke’s Lobster Portland Pier. Sweeping views of the ocean and a bright open space compliment the menu of local favorites. I cannot wait to go back!
