Thanksgiving!

It would only be fitting for me to start a pie blog during Thanksgiving week. This is one of my favorite holidays and really the pinnacle of pie worship in my household.

Thanksgiving – These words stir nostalgia with memories of dinners that my mom prepared. I still plan my dinner around the sides that she prepared. Of course her pies were always amazing. My mom would make several pumpkin pies and often an apple pie. Her pie crust was always flaky and perfect. My mom was experimenting with different dough types long before it was a thing. I remember when she started putting vinegar in her dough. She’d brush the top with milk. Most recently she told me that she did a dough that had egg and baking powder in it. Most likely I’ll need to test that for this blog.

What pies will I make? LOTS! Pumpkin, apple with cranberries, pecan. This year I’m trying a few new ones as well – chess pie, cranberry and mixed berry and peach pie.
